HER HIGHNESS SHEIKHA MOZA BINT NASSER MEETS PRESIDENT OF TUNISIA, HIS EXCELLENCY BEJI CAID ESSEBSI

Her Highnesss Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Advocate for the UN Sustainable Development Goals, today met with the President of Tunisia, Beji Caid Essebsi, as part of her visit to witness some of the employment projects her organisations are supporting in Tunisia. Her Highness then attended a dinner hosted by the wife of the president of Tunisia in occasion of Her Highness’s visit.

Her Highness also met Tunisia’s Prime Minister, H.E Youssef Al Shahed. They discussed different ways to support Tunisian youth through the Silatech foundation.

Her Highness and Mr. Al Shahed witnessed the signing of a number of collaboration agreements between Silatech and the Education Above All Foundation (EAA) – both of which she founded and chairs – with Tunisian and international organisations. The signing was attended by a number of ministers.

The first agreement signed between Silatech and the Ministry of Development, Investment and International Cooperation, aims to provide a strategic collaboration framework between the parties in the areas of youth empowerment, investment promotion, and economic growth opportunities for young people in Tunisia.

The second agreement aims to establish a partnership between the four parties: Silatech, Education Above All (EAA), The Dutch organisation SPARK and the Tunisian Agency for Vocational Training (ATFP) to develop a vocational training curriculum, provide training and to support entrepreneurship. This agreement is EAA’S first project in Tunisia.

Her Highness also today visited the Fadaa Al Kahena Centre, part of ENDA Tamweel – one of Silatech’s partners in Tunisia. Her Highness saw for herself the achievements of ENDA and the impact of its partnership with Silatech. Her Highness watched a training course taking place and met beneficiaries of the project. She also learned about a mobile banking project launched by ENDA and Silatech to provide financial services to remote and rural areas.
