The Health sector is important for creating employment opportunities and decent jobs for young men and women

New Partnerships between Silatech and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research “UNITAR” in youth capacity building for the job market

Within the framework of developing and strengthening its partnerships with the international organizations, to empower the largest possible number of youth, provide them with jobs and achieve the target of empowering 5 million youth by 2022, Silatech’s CEO, Ms. Sabah Al Haidoos discussed, in Geneva with the World Health Organization Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus ways of cooperation and partnership to create a well-trained and qualified health workforce that contributes to the development of this sector and address the gab, especially in fragile States and conflict zones. The meeting also discussed investments in education and skills, to develop youth capacity-building and thus contributing to the creation of jobs in this fast-growing sector.

It was agreed to work together in the “Working for Health” program which is being executed as a partnership between WHO, International Labour Organization, ILO and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, OECD.

The “Working for Health” program aims at supporting and leveraging investments in the health sector, workforce capacity-building and training while providing jobs opportunities in this vital sector, leading in turn to the economic empowerment of youth and women.

Silatech’s CEO Ms. Sabah Al Haidoos said “We strive to expand our network of partnerships with international organizations that work with youth, especially the United Nations organizations. This is with the aim of economically and socially empowering youth and tackling the global challenges such as unemployment and its consequences. Training youth and building their capacities are considered key factors to facilitate their access to economic opportunities and the job market, thus helping them to participate in the development of their societies. We value this collaboration with the World Health Organization in the “Working for Health” program, which aims at raising efficiency of manpower in the health sector and creating jobs for youth”.

“Silatech also signed a memorandum of understanding “MOU” with the United Nations Institute for Training and Research “UNITAR”, with the aim of cooperating in youth employment training.
The signing of MOU took place during a meeting in Geneva, Switzerland, between Silatech’s CEO Ms. Sabah Al Haidoos and the Executive Director of UNITAR Mr. Nikhil Seth, in the presence of H.E. Ambassador Ali Al Mansouri, the Permanent Representative of the State of Qatar to the UN Office in Geneva. The two parties discussed ways to strengthen the cooperation in the field of youth training, building their capacities, and providing them with the necessary skills required to enter the job market.

This partnership with the UN Institute for Training and Research is part of Silatech’s ongoing pursuit to economically and socially empower youth, and achieve some of the UN Sustainable Development Goals, as well as a number of UN Youth Strategy 2030, through capacity-building, thus facilitating youth access to jobs and to fulfill their aspirations and contribution to the economic development of their societies.

UNITAR provides training and capacity development activities to mainly assist developing countries with special attention to Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Small Island Developing States (SIDS) and other groups and communities who are most vulnerable, including those in conflict situations. UNITAR is also helping for the implementation of UN Sustainable Development Goals and UN Youth strategy 2030.
