SILATECH WELCOMES THE MEMBERS OF THE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM OF THE UN ALLIANCE OF CIVILIZATIONS

Silatech, a regional social organization that works to create jobs and expand economic opportunities for youth in the Arab world, hosted a meeting with the members of the Fellowship Program of the UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC). The meeting was held on Tuesday, 22 November 2016 in Silatech’s headquarter in Doha.

13 emerging leaders and young professionals members of the UNAOC Fellowship Program attended the meeting and learned more about Silatech’s innovative initiatives and programs that connect Arab youth with real jobs and engage them in the economic and social development of their societies. This is achieved through its main three programs: Employment, Enterprise Development, and Policy and Research.

Mr. Trent Lawrence, Fellow at The UNAOC Fellowship Program and Project Operations Manager at Social Enterprise Alliance, USA said: “It was such an enlightening experience! I came with no expectations and I was completely blown away with Silatech’s work for youth.”

Ms. Aurore Du Roy, Fellow at the UNAOC Fellowship Program and Head of the French Branch of Kiron Open Higher Education, also said: “ I think that all of us in the group were really inspired after learning more about the wide range of programs Silatech offers, as well as meeting Silatech’s passionate team who are committed to changing the lives of youth.”

Commenting on the meeting, Ms. Sabah Al Haidoos, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Silatech said: “The UN Alliance of Civilization is of a great importance to us as Silatech’s journey was formally launched at the UN Alliance of Civilizations in 2008 by Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser as a regional social initiative to support Arab youth. Silatech’s significant achievements to date proved HH proactive and inclusive vision to face the unemployment challenge and its contribution to the development of Arab societies.”

Mr. Abdullah Al Sada, member of the Qatari Committee- Alliance of Civilizations, and an advisor in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented: “The State of Qatar has organized this visit for the 6th year in a row to introduce the visiting delegation from Europe and America to the activities carried out by official governmental and non-governmental entities in Qatar that also cover the four areas of focus of the UNAOC: Youth, Immigration, Media, and Education, and Silatech plays an important role in this visit.”

Ms. Sabah Al Haidoos concluded: “We are delighted to welcome these young leaders into our offices and have an intercultural dialogue focused on youth. The enthusiasm, cooperation, and fresh perspective our youth bring to the table can truly make a difference in the lives of youth as well as our whole societies.”
